Lancaster City Graduation Photo Session

There’s truly nothing better than a Lancaster City graduation photo session, especially when the weather is perfect, the sunset is glowing, and the senior is as sweet as Laken! I first met Laken at a wedding I photographed last year, and when she reached out this summer to schedule her graduation session, I was so excited! She’s graduating from Saint Joseph’s University and will soon be a nurse (how amazing is that?). From start to finish, this session was just the best mix of girly, natural, and relaxed—totally her vibe.

Exploring Lancaster City for Laken’s Graduation Photo Session

We kicked things off near the Marriott Hotel, where the city backdrop added a fun, modern touch to her photos. Then we wandered over to Central Market and the Lancaster County Courthouse, which are some of my favorite spots downtown. I love how every part of the city can give you a slightly different look for your pictures. It’s such a dream for any Lancaster City graduation photo session.

Laken started out the session wearing her scrubs and we added the cutest props: a stethoscope, her nursing textbook, and even a (fake) syringe! It was such a creative way to celebrate all the hard work she’s put in at Saint Joseph’s University. After that, she changed into a pretty, flowy dress that matched her personality perfectly. Of course, we also incorporated her graduation gown for a few shots. She looked so confident and happy, and you could just tell how proud she was to be finishing this chapter.

Downtown Lancaster Rooftop at Golden Hour

Before the session, I helped Laken plan out her locations and timing so everything flowed easily. We figured out exactly when to head to each spot and when she’d do her outfit change to make sure we caught the best light. I love helping my seniors plan out those little details so their sessions feel totally stress-free.

We ended the evening on a parking garage rooftop in downtown Lancaster just in time for sunset. And oh my goodness, the light was perfect. The sky was glowy, the city looked beautiful in the background, and Laken absolutely glowed. Moments like that remind me why I love photographing seniors so much! It’s such a fun, emotional season of life. Celebrating it with photos like these is so special.
